WHAT IS THE MINIMUM LENGTH OF AN INTERNSHIP?
The minimum length of an internship in Germany is two months; many of our international locations award internships for a six-month period.
WHICH ENTRY LEVEL SHOULD I APPLY FOR?
Your entry level depends on your qualifications and experience. With a bachelor’s degree, you come on board as an Analyst. If you’ve already completed your master’s degree, you start as an Associate Consultant; with an MBA, PhD or some professional experience on top, you begin directly at the Consultant level.
If you already have extensive professional experience, you join goetzpartners as an Experienced Hire. Your precise entry level will depend on your industry expertise, subject matter expertise and management expertise.
MUST I HAVE DONE AN INTERNSHIP AT A MANAGEMENT CONSULTANCY IN ORDER TO GET A PERMANENT JOB?
We require you to have some practical experience in a consultancy environment or to have other professional experience of relevance to us.

Our recruitment day is designed around conversations (where it’s more about personality), case studies and brain teasers. Prepare by reading relevant literature on the main topics (e.g., Strategy, Finance and Business Development), and attend workshops beforehand.

You can tell us if you already have a preferred area of interest. You need to state a focus area for positions at Manager level and up.
IS IT POSSIBLE TO MOVE BETWEEN THE AREAS OF MANAGEMENT CONSULTING AND CORPORATE FINANCE?
No – you opt for Management Consulting or Corporate Finance before you start. But both areas work together closely on numerous projects.
CAN I CHOOSE THE OFFICE LOCATION WHERE I WISH TO WORK?
Yes, for locations in Germany, the choice is up to you. In Management Consulting, you can work out of our Munich, Berlin, Düsseldorf or Frankfurt offices.
CAN I MOVE TO A DIFFERENT LOCATION?
Life circumstances can change – and it’s possible to relocate within Germany. It’s likewise possible to move to another international location within our expat program. This will, however, be discussed and decided individually with you.
HOW INTERNATIONALLY CAN I WORK AT GOETZPARTNERS?
With 12 offices worldwide and projects in more than 100 countries in the last three years alone, you have every chance of international deployment. 70% of our consultants are engaged in projects outside Germany, work in international teams or spend 6-12 months in other countries as part of our office transfer program.
DO I HAVE ANY SAY IN PROJECT SELECTION?
Your preferences and personal profile will be taken into account when projects are allocated – and we’re often able to accommodate your wishes.
HOW BIG ARE PROJECT TEAMS?
The average is 5-10 members per team.
HOW MANY DAYS A WEEK WILL I SPEND WITH THE CLIENT?
How many days we’re on site with the customer depends on the requirements of each project – but it’s not more than four days a week. You can certainly sleep more nights in your own bed than in a hotel bed. The rest of the time our Hybrid Working Model applies, so it’s possible to work from the office as well as from home.
WILL I BE WORKING ON-SITE WITH CLIENTS DURING MY INTERNSHIP?
Our interns assist on client projects. Depending on how the project is structured, your work will be partly on-site and partly office based.
HOW AND WHEN CAN I SPECIALIZE?
You’ll acquire certain role- and sector-specific preferences through initial project experience. You’ll then extend your expertise by working in the relevant industry or practice group. Specialization normally comes at Manager level and beyond.
HOW OFTEN AM I APPRAISED?
We set great store by regular feedback – which you can channel into taking active steps forward in your own career development. For this reason, detailed appraisal and development reviews take place with you every three months.
